The thing that upset Sheryl was what Izzy said about Callie last night to George....which since I haven't seen it yet....someone else will be able to better fill you in...but I guess the idea was that she thinks George made a mistake in marrying Callie.

So plaese feel free to update me on last nights show and what do you think...did Izzy overstep her freindship with George?

Grammys

I thought Christina Aguliera saved the show last night. I'm wondering how you are all doing on that project? I have to admit I was not motivated at all.....I actually didn't even consider doing anything until after the box of Daffins caramels were gone from Christmas. If they would have been at your house you would have felt the same way! But suddenly this week...it clicked....probably because I was feeling really fat! I've been really thinking about what to eat, planing it and ......you may want to sit down for this....I went to the health club and worked out! I've belonged to this club for about 2 years....I took an 8 week Pilates class...at which I nearly died.....but Ive got my bag packed and I'm going back for more today! So how are you all doing with your resolutions this year? I love her!

Conditions were perfect...12 below, no feeling in the toes, basic
numbness all over...the "Tell me when we're having fun" kind of day.

One of the women in the group complained to her husband that she was in dire need of a rest room. He told her not to worry, that he was sure there was relief waiting at the top of the lift in the form of a powder room for female skiers in distress. He was wrong, of course, and the pain did not go away. If you've ever had nature hit its panic button in you, then you know that a temperature of 12 below doesn't help matters. With time running out, the woman weighed her options. Her husband, picking up on the intensity of the pain, suggested that since she was wearing an all-white ski outfit, she should go off in the woods and no one would even notice. He assured her, "The white will provide more than adequate camouflage."

So she headed for the tree line, began lowering her ski pants and proceeded to do her thing. If you've ever parked on the side of a slope, then you know there is a right way and wrong way to set your skis so you don't move.
She had them positioned the wrong way. Without warning, the woman found herself skiing backward, out-of-control, racing through the trees...somehow missing all of them and onto another slope. Her derriere still bare, her pants down around her knees, and she was picking up speed all the while. She continued backwards, totally out-of-control, creating an unusual vista for the other skiers. The woman skied back under the lift and finally collided violently with a pylon.

The bad news was that she broke her arm and was unable to
pull up her ski pants. At long last her husband arrived, putting an end to her nudie show, then summoned the ski patrol. They transported her to a hospital.

While in the emergency room, a man with an obviously broken leg was put in the bed next to hers. "So, how'd you break your leg?" she asked, making small talk. "It was the stupidest thing you ever saw," he said. "I was riding up this ski lift and suddenly, I couldn't believe my eyes! There was this crazy woman skiing backward, out-of-control, down the mountain, with her bare bottom hanging out of her pants. I leaned over with my camera to get a good picture and fell out of the lift." ... "So, how'd you break your arm?

Winter time fun!

If you have kids in school, then you know Winter break is right aorund the corner. I'm trying to plan a little get away with my daughter. We did this last year, just the two of us and it was really fun, we went skiing and snow tubing. If you haven't tried it, it's really fun(snowtubing) and takes no skill! You ride up the side of a hill on a tow rope with your intertube beneath you......then race back down" snow lanes". It's exhilarating to say the least. The first time we got to the top....and then looking down at the kids flying down with their lines tied together I felt nervous. I had butterflies in my stomach , everytime we would shove off......I'd think this is crazy...then we would start to laugh and try to beat each other to the finish. I had the edge on this since I weigh more than my daughter! (It's nice to get the egde on something!) It really is a good memory thinking about how she had no fear and convinced me I should do this too! If you have a great memory of somthing that your child (at any age) talked you into I would love to hear about it. Seems like yesterday I was teaching her how to make snow angels and now she is daring me to speed down a hill on an intertube. Wow, I'm a lucky person!

question????

In what store would you most like to max out your credit card? Thanks Shelley!

Would you have made the same choice?
At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves learning-disabled children, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question:
"When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does is done with perfection. Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do. Where is the natural order of things in my son?" The audience was stilled by the query. The father continued. "I believe that when a child like Shay, physically and mentally handicapped comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes in the way other people treat that child." Then he told the following story:
Shay and his father had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew> were playing baseball. Shay asked, "Do you think they'll let me play?" Shay's father knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but the father also understood that if his son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps. Shay's father approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting much) if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance and said, "We're losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning." Shay struggled over to the team's bench with a broad smile. His Father watched with a small tear in his eye and warmth in his heart. The boys saw the father's joy at his son being accepted. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored afew runs but was still behind by three. In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the right field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as his father waved to him from the stands. In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again. Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game? Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball. However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher, recognizing that the other team was putting winning aside for this moment in Shay's life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least make contact. The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed. The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay. As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher. The game would now be over. The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman. Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the> game. Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first baseman's head, out of reach of all team mates. Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, "Shay, run to first! Run to first!" Never in his life had Shay ever run that far, but he made it to first base. He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled. Everyone yelled, "Run to second, run to second!" Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and struggling to make it to the base. By the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the ball ... the smallest guy on their team who now had his first chance to be the hero for his team. He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitcher's intentions so he, too, intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-baseman's head. Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled the bases toward home. All were screaming, "Shay, Shay, Shay, all the Way Shay" Shay reached third base because the opposing shortstop ran to help him by turning him in the direction of third base, and shouted, "Run to third! Shay, run to third!" As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams, and the spectators, were on their feet screaming, "Shay, run home! Run home!" Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the grand slam and won the game for his team. "That day", said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, "the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world". Shay didn't make it to another summer. He died that winter, having never forgotten being the hero and making his father so happy, and coming home and seeing his Mother tearfully embrace her little hero of the day!
We all have thousands> of opportunities every single day to> help realize the "natural order of things." So many seemingly trivial interactions between two people present us with a choice: Do we pass along a little spark of love and humanity or do we pass up those opportunities and leave the world a little bit colder in the process? A wise man once said every society is judged by how it treats it's least fortunate amongst them. You now have two choices. May your day, be a Shay Day.

Really good advice.

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hungon the ends of a pole, which she carried across her neck. One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water, at the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do. After 2 years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream.

"I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house." The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?" "That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them. For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house." Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.

My friend Rhonda sent this to me today. Today just happens to be her birthday.....She's bummed about getting older, but she shouldn't be....getting older is the gift! Plus you're younger than me Rhonda, so that should make you feel better! Happy Birthday Rhonda!

Seriously, I liked this because sometimes we're hard on each other for our shortcomings....and worse yet....we can be really cruel to ourselves for not being perfect.....so go easy on yourself. CHIILL-lax and be good to you! The train would take off on a little ride and during the ride Santa would come around and ask if we had been good all year. That was such a cool trip, I think my granfather arranged it ...it had something to do with one of the organizations he belonged to....Elks, American Legion...something like that. All I know is it was truly magical, Santa was so big...and he would give us these stockings that had a popcorn ball in them. That popcorn ball would take forever to eat....and it was the only time of year that I ever remember seeing one. I remember dressing up to go on our "trip" and how exciting it was to go with my siblings...and the little knot in my stomach when I was about to see Santa! I finally watched the Polar Express a couple of weeks ago and it reminded me of how much I loved that train ride. Parents and Grandparents have the ability to make magic in the world and I thank mine for doing that.

If you would like to share a memory with us please do! If not, please know that I wish you all the best this holiday season. Have fun making the Holiday magical for someone! By taking a few minutes each day for a week preceding the exam and doing the following exercises, you will be totally prepared for the test and best of all, you can do these simple exercises right in and
around your home.
EXERCISE ONE:
Open your refrigerator door and insert one breast in door.
Shut the door as hard as possible and lean on the door for good measure.
Hold that position for five seconds.
Repeat again in case the first time wasn't effective enough.
EXERCISE TWO:
Visit your garage at 3AM when the temperature of the cement floor is
just perfect.
Take off all your clothes and lie comfortably on the floor with one
breast wedged under the rear tire of the car. (this one is my favorite)
Ask a friend to slowly back the car up until your breast is
sufficiently flattened and chilled.
Turn over and repeat with the other breast.
EXERCISE THREE:
Freeze two metal bookends overnight.
Strip to the waist and invite a stranger into the room.
Press the bookends against one of your breasts.
Smash the bookends together as hard as you can.
Set up an appointment with the stranger to meet next year and do it again.
YOU ARE NOW TOTALLY PREPARED!

BUT...it will be worth it, please remember that early detection saves lives! It was sent to me by my friend Loree, who has a great sense of humor! Thanks Loree!

One day, when a seamstress was sewing while sitting close to a river, her thimble fell into the river. When she cried out, the Lord appeared and asked, "My dear child, why are you crying? The seamstress replied that her thimble had fallen into the water and that she needed it to help her husband in making a living for their family.

The Lord dipped His hand into the water and pulled up a golden thimble set with pearls. "Is this your thimble?" the Lord asked

The seamstress replied, "No."

The Lord again dipped into the river. He held out a silver thimble ringed with sapphires. "Is this your thimble?" the Lord asked.

Again, the seamstress replied, "No."

The Lord reached down again and came up with a leather thimble. "Is this your thimble?" the Lord asked. The seamstress replied, "Yes."

The Lord was pleased with the woman's honesty and gave her all three thimbles to keep, and the seamstress went home happy.

Some years later, the seamstress was walking with her husband along the riverbank, and her husband fell into the river and disappeared under the water.
When she cried out, the Lord again appeared and asked her, "Why are you crying?
"Oh Lord, my husband has fallen into the river!"

The Lord went down into the water and came up with George Clooney.
"Is this your husband?" the Lord asked.

"Yes," cried the seamstress.

The Lord was furious. "You lied! That is an untruth!"

The seamstress replied, "Oh, forgive me, my Lord it is a misunderstanding. You see, if I had said 'no' to George Clooney, you would have come up with Brad Pitt. Then if I said 'no' to him, you would have come up with my husband. Had I then said 'yes,' you would have given me all three. Lord, I'm not in the best of health and would not be able to take care of all three husbands, so THAT'S why I said 'yes' to George Clooney.
And so the Lord let her keep him.

The moral of this story is: Whenever a woman lies, it's for a good and honorable reason, and in the best interest of others.
That's our story, and we're sticking to it.
Signed,
All Us Women

Mom's letter to Santa!

Here's a letter that my freind Carol passed on to me. She's a great mom! I think there is some part of this letter we can all relate to. If you are a mom, you know you don't really have time to write to Santa....so here's a letter you can just sign your name to! Merry Christmas to all you Magic moms......keep up the good work! Mitzi

Dear Santa, I've been a good mom all year. I've fed, cleaned and cuddled my children on demand, visited the doctor's office more than my doctor, sold sixty-two cases of candy bars to raise money to plant a shade tree on the school playground. I was hoping you could spread my list out over several Christmases, since I had to write this letter with my son's red crayon, on the back of a receipt in the laundry room between cycles, and who knows when I'll find any more free time in the next 18 years.

Here are my Christmas wishes: I'd like a pair of legs that don't ache (in any color, except purple, which I already have) and arms that don't hurt or flap in the breeze; but are strong enough to pull my screaming child out of the candy aisle in the grocery store. I'd also like a waist, since I lost mine somewhere in the seventh month of my last pregnancy. If you're hauling big ticket items this year I'd like fingerprint resistant windows and a radio that only plays adult music; (preferably tumed to Magic 105.1) a television that doesn't broadcast any programs containing talking animals; and a refrigerator with a secret compartment behind the crisper where I can hide to talk on the phone.

On the practical side, I could use a talking doll that says, "Yes, Mommy" to boost my parental confidence, along with two kids who don't fight and three pairs of jeans that will zip all the way up without the use of power tools. I could also use a recording of Tibetan monks chanting "Don't eat in the living room" and "Take your hands off your brother," because my voice seems to be just out of my children's hearing range and can only be heard by the dog. If it's too late to find any of these products, I'd settle for enough time to brush my teeth and comb my hair in the same morning, or the luxury of eating food warmer than room temperature without it being served in a Styrofoam container. If you don't mind, I could also use a few Christmas miracles to brighten the holiday season. Would it be too much trouble to declare ketchup a vegetable? It will clear my conscience immensely. It would be helpful if you could coerce my children to help around the house without demanding payment as if they were the bosses of an organized crime family.

Well, Santa, the buzzer on the dryer is ringing and my son saw my feet under the laundry room door. I think he wants his crayon back. Have a safe trip and remember to leave your wet boots by the door and come in and dry off so you don't catch cold. Help yourself to cookies on the table but don't eat too many or leave crumbs on the carpet.

Yours Always, MOM

P.S. One more thing...you can cancel all my requests if you can keep my children young enough to believe!

Tell a soldier you care about them!

My freind Pam usually sends me the funniest jokes....but today she sent me something soooo special. Thanks Pam!

This is something cool that Xerox is doing. Just go to this web site, http://www.letssaythanks.com/ , you can pickout a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq. You can't pick out who gets it,but it will go to some member of the armed services. You don't even have to use your full name, just your first name will do it. How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!! It is FREE and it only takes like 5 seconds .Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these?

Thanks so much for letting our military know that we are thinking of them. I went to a wedding Saturday night that was so beautiful and so much fun. I love the wedding videos that they do showing the bride and groom growing up. Isn't it amazing to see the differences we all go through, the changes from the soft baby faces to the adults we become? In the video ageing happens in the blink of an eye....in real life we know it's much different. It's made up of happy can't stop smiling days and sleepless troublesome ones as well. My friend was telling me a story about one of her relatives that turned 90 this weekend...and she said that she told her ...."what happened, I feel like I'm 29.........but I'm 90! I think she is lucky, to feel as if ......what we think might be the PERFECT AGE.....but to continue to live, to contribute, to be....is such a gift. I hope when I'm 90 I still feel like I'm 29. Thank you to everyone who reads this today. To me you are a gift that I have been blessed with. Those of you who blog and share your comments and those of you who write me privately and those who never write but listen to Magic. Thank you for touching my life in some way. That's a wonderful gift and please know that I sincerely apprecaite you. Thank you for making each Birthday even better for me, you make me feel like I'm 29! I am so tired of negative ads for the elections that TV has been hard to watch lately. Last nights story reminded me of something that happened to me when I was about 20. I was working in a restaurant as a waitress saving money for school. A cook began working there. I knew him when I was about 8 and we lived in a real small town, he lived on our street. He had been in trouble with the law and was sent away for a while to a juevenile detention center. He was on probation and needed to keep his job as a condition. I probably should mention here that I was going to school to become a Social Worker. He put me in a bad position one night when I ordered 2 steaks for a table that turned out to be his buddies. They ordered the cheapest steaks and when I went to pick them up they were the big porterhouse steaks. I told him he got the order wrong and he asked me to take them to table anyway. I did. I learned a valuable lesson from it. That decision haunts me still.......I wish I would not have done it. Lying, even if it's for someone else takes a toll on you in my opinion. The Christina, Burke, Miranda story is what I found most interesting last night. Covering for someone that you love, and how it effects others. Have you ever been in a postiion where you covered for someone to help them out? How did it turn out? Would you do what Christina did?

Also, if you are having trouble getting on the blog please email me and let me know. But then you see the smiles of the survivors and I know we are making so much progress that I am honored to be a part of that. I'm smiling thinking about the fun things I saw and the great people that I met at CJ Barrymores! People always say things like it's good to put a face with the voice....but that goes both ways, I'm so happy to connect your face and your family with people that email and call me. So, thank you very much!

Have you ever played laser tag? It's a blast! I found my competititve side while playing......just a hint to any moms who are tempted to play....don't take your purse along! It's hard to pretend you are a commando while carrying a pink straw handbag with you! ....now to the OOOOUCH! As a kid I played baseball almost everyday in the summer. Our backyard bordered a cemetary.....the actual cemetary was a half a mile back from us...but their extra land bordered our yard so my dad and brother cut our own field of dreams......the entire neighborhood played baseball in that field. That's probably why I still love to play ball....so once again this year I hit the batting cages. I tried to hit everything that came to me....even the high balls...(my weakness) I was only playing slow softball.....but man that was fun.....till about 10 last night when I thought my shoulder needed to be removed! It hurt so bad.....there's nothing like trying to do something that you were once good at that makes you realize......you're not as young as you used to be! Thanks to modern medicine, I'm feeling much better today!

Thanks to you for being a part of a fun day yesterday.....and if you were not able to win ...don't worry we have so many cool things lined up this summer...you will love ....whenever you win! So stay tuned!

As always, feel free to add your comments! As I watched the group of mothers who were wearing shorts and holding gifts for class teachers .......I left feeling envious of parents who can be there to watch a play, serve a snack or see a presentation. I've had that feeling a lot this last week, between field day, field trips and now end of the year parties. Sometimes it's really hard to be a working parent.
I'm not complaining, that's my tradeoff.....I love my workday. But I reallllly wanted to call in "sick" today and take pictures of Kelsey in the 3rd grade. I guess it's knowing that after tomorrow I won't have a 3rd grader ever again.......and now I'm crying.
Darn, I wish I would have at least remembered to bring some watermelon for lunch.
If you want to add your two cents worth.....or slap me up side the head, feel free!

What was your first job and what did it teach you?

My first job was at a Pizza Hut.
